Pooraka, Australia – March 22, 2026
The 618 March Mayhem Novice powerlifting meet moved quickly, and a handful of lifters made sure the day had some weight behind it once the totals shook out.
Kyle Brown put together one of the most complete performances of the meet, taking first in his division with a 502.5 kg total (162.5 kg squat, 115 kg bench, 225 kg deadlift).
Nigel Grapentin was right there in terms of raw output, finishing with a 542.5 kg total. His 137.5 kg bench was one of the better presses of the day, and he backed it up with a 230 kg deadlift to close. While the placements didn’t line up for a win, his numbers were among the highest posted across the novice field.
In the women’s division, Mia Nguyen took first in her class with a 270 kg total (95 kg squat, 45 kg bench, 130 kg deadlift). She built her total steadily across all three lifts and stayed ahead where it counted on the scoreboard.
Julia Turner followed with a 297.5 kg total, highlighted by a 135 kg deadlift—one of the stronger pulls in the women’s division. It was a lift that stood out in the room and on the platform.
The meet, put on by 618 Barbell, was made with quick flights and steady judging, and these four were some of the ones who put up numbers worth remembering once the chalk dust settled.
